Chris Banjo is currently a ST powerhouse and Safety for the Packers.
Chris saw time in all 12 games his freshman year, starting the last seven at safety. He ranked fourth on the team with 61 tackles and intercepted a pass against Southern Miss and returned it 33 yards. He had 13 tackles at Navy and backed up that performance with a 12-stop day against Memphis.
As a sophomore, he started all 13 games at safety. He had 86 tackles and an interception on the year and also forced three fumbles. He had 10-tackle games against SFA, East Carolina and Rice and nine-stop games at TCU and Houston. Chris became the first SMU player awarded the number 23 following Head Coach June Jones’ decision that a deserving student-athlete on the SMU football team would be chosen to wear the number 23 on his jersey throughout the season to honor Jerry LeVias. He held that honor through his senior season.
Chris started all 14 games at safety his junior season and was named Second Team All-Conference USA. He tallied 92 total tackles with 6.5 for loss and had two interceptions and six pass breakups on the season. He totaled 12 tackles and a TFL against UCF in the C-USA Championship and twice recorded nine tackles (TCU and Army) in a game.
He started every game his senior season and recorded 82 total tackles.
Chris Banjo was signed to the Jacksonville Jaguars on April 18, 2013.
Chris was released from the Jaguars on July 25, 2013.
He was signed to the Green Bay Packers on July 29, 2013.
After a solid season and top-performing preseason, Chris was waived by the Packers during final cuts on August 30, 2014. He was signed to the practice squad the next day.
He was promoted to the active roster on December 13, 2014.
