He also toed the sideline for an acrobatic TD catch in the win over the Wolf Pack. Cole caught a TD pass with 11 seconds left in the first half of SMU’s win at UAB, as the Mustangs snapped a 17-game Conference USA losing streak and a 15-game road losing streak.

During his junior season, Cole started all 14 games at receiver. He was named Second Team All-Conference USA and totaled 1,060 receiving yards, the fourth highest single-season total, and six touchdowns on the season. Cole caught 87 passes, which ranks second for a single-season in program history. He had a punt and kickoff return and started the season off with two touchdown catches at Texas Tech. Cole teamed with Aldrick Robinson to produce school single-season tandem records 2,361 yards and 165 catches.

Cole was signed to the 53-man roster for the Cowboys for the 2012 season. In the second preseason game, he caught 7 passes for 104 yards. In the eleventh regular season game against the Washington Redskins, he caught 7 passes for 68 yards, while being targeted 13 times.
