Taylor “Tank” Reed (ILB)

Taylor Reed is currently a starting LB for the Hamilton Tigercats in the CFL.

He was signed as a UDFA with the Dallas Cowboys on April 27, 2013.

He was released from the Cowboys on August 30, 2013 during final roster cuts.

Tank was signed to the Cowboys practice squad on November 18, 2013.

The Cowboys released Tank from their practice squad on November 26, 2013.

He was signed to the Patriots practice squad on December 30, 2013 and signed a future reserves contract with them on January 20, 2014. He was waived on March 10, 2014.

As a freshman at SMU, Tank was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team. He played in all 13 games, got the start at UAB and pulled down an interception in the end zone in the fourth quarter while also helping to stop Blazer QB Joe Webb on the potential game-tying two-point try with 13 seconds left in the game as the Mustangs snapped a 17-game Conference USA losing streak and a 15-game road losing streak. He had 57 tackles, 4.5 for-loss, and forced two fumbles on the year as well as a season-high eight tackles in the Rice win.

In his sophomore season,  Tank started in all 14 games at linebacker. He was named to All-Conference USA honorable mention and posted 145 tackles (7th highest total in NCAA). He notched two sacks and 4.5 TFLs and averaged 10.4 tackles per game (16th – NCAA). He posted double-digit tackle totals in seven games during the season and recorded a season-high 20 tackles (12 solos) at Navy. He also had two sacks in the C-USA Championship Game at UCF.

During his junior season, Tank was named second-team All-C-USA. He started 12 games and led the team with 101 tackles, including 9.5 tackles for loss and four sacks. Tank notched a season-high 14 tackles against Navy and had eight tackles and a fumble recovery in the BBVA Compass Bowl win. He tallied 10 or more stops in four games and had three pass breakups and a forced fumble. He was selected to the Lombardi Award watch list and won Defensive MVP for the Mustangs.
Tank had 3 interceptions (2 returned for TD’s) during his senior season. He recorded 97 total tackles on the season and 6.5 sacks.
