Zach Line (RB/FB)

Zach Line signed as a UDFA with the Minnesota Vikings on April 27, 2013.  He currently plays for the Vikings.

As a freshman, Zach saw time in all 13 games, starting six as SMU’s short-yardage back. He scored seven TDs on 49 carries and rushed for a season-high 34 yards and two TDs against Navy. His two-rushing-TD performance was the first at SMU by a freshman since 2005. Zach had 189 yards rushing on the year and added 10 receptions for 68 yards.
During his sophomore season, Zach played in all 14 games, starting 12. He was named First Team All-Conference USA and rushed for 1,494 yards (11th in the country), which only trails Eric Dickerson for most single-season rushing yards in SMU history. In his junior season, he was named first-team All-C-USA. He suffered a foot injury in the Navy game and missed the last three games of the season, but still led Conference USA and ranked seventh in the nation in rushing at 122.4 yards a game and 5.88 yards per rush. He posted eight 100-yard rushing games in 10 games played and ranked ninth nationally and first in C-USA in scoring with 10.20 points per game. Zach set a school-record for rushing touchdowns in a game with five against Northwestern State, notched 17 rushing TDs on the year. He had 1,224 yards for the year and also caught 15 passes for 139 yards. He was named one of 10 Doak Walker Award semifinalists.
In 2012, as a senior, Zach managed to surpass Eric Dickerson in total yardage, and tied him for the most rushing touchdowns in SMU history (47). Line’s senior season saw him carry the ball 277 times for 1,278 yards, and 13 touchdowns. Line was named to the Conference-USA first-team, and also was named the conference’s offensive player of the year. He was named SMU’s Offensive MVP for the second straight season.
